Spring 2013 Arrives at Twill!
We all hear Winters in Minnesota aren’t what they used to be, but it sure seems we had a good old-fashioned Minnesota Winter this year! I guess it was payback for last year’s incredibly mild weather. Though the cold weather and snow don’t seem to be going away just yet, as indicated by last week’s storm, we decided to make it Spring in Twill! The new collections are rolling in and hitting the sales floor, and the bright colors and lighter fabrics are a breath of fresh air. If you want a little pick-me-up, head into the store and check out the new collections from all the usual suspects: Peter Millar, Polo, Hiltl, Barbour, Vineyard Vines, and many more. If you’re heading to warmer climates for vacation or Spring Break, Twill has just what you need to transition into Spring!
Twill Introduces Two New Brands
I’ve known about Southern Tide for awhile, and I always knew it was a good fit for Twill. It was only a matter of time before this red-hot line hit our shelves, and that time is now. I am very proud to introduce this collection to our customers, though from what I am hearing, many of you already know the brand well! Superior fit, classic design and comfort are all keys to the success of this line, and Southern Tide will definitely add a shot of color and style to your wardrobe.
Most of you know we love “Made in the USA” at Twill, but we love “Made in Minnesota” more. Now we have both, and I am proud to introduce the beautiful leather collection from J.W. Hulme. Made right here in our backyard in St. Paul, J.W. Hulme’s craftspeople have been making distinctive luxury leather and canvas products since 1905. Their skill, commitment to time-honored techniques and passion for perfection in every detail have made the J.W. Hulme name synonymous with products of the highest quality. I couldn’t be happier to introduce this collection to Twill.

Twill is a proud sponsor of The Minneapolis Hockey Association. My son Teddy’s Squirt team is pictured here, proudly sporting the Twill logo on their new team warm-ups. It has been an absolute blast this season, and I wanted to wish the team good luck as they head into the district playoffs next week. Go Storm!
It’s That Time Again: Spring Trunk Shows at Twill
We have some great events in the store this Spring, and we wanted to give you a heads up so you can mark your calendars and save the dates:
• Peter Millar Spring Trunk Show, March 1–2
The exposure Peter Millar has gotten so far this PGA season has been fantastic! Not only is Bill Haas a TV regular, sporting my favorite logo, but the tour’s hottest player, Brandt Snedeker, has been looking awesome on the links in his Peter Millar wardrobe. Stop in to our trunk show this weekend and pick up some of the Millar items worn on Tour each week. If golf is not your thing, fear not. Twill is currently loaded with the rest of the new Spring 2013 Peter Millar Collection, and the trunk show will offer you the opportunity to order items not typically carried at Twill. Charlie Schenck from Peter Millar will be in the store as usual to answer all of your wardrobe questions.
• Custom Clothing and Dress Shirt Trunk Show, March 8–17
This bi-annual event represents a fantastic opportunity to get a custom suit, sport coat or shirt at a nice discount. If you’ve never experienced the benefits of a custom fit garment, this is the time to give it a try. Brands featured include Southwick, Hickey Freeman and Polo Ralph Lauren, as well as Skip Gambert Custom Shirtings.
It has been a great pleasure to work with our retail partner Allen Edmonds for the past couple of years. I couldn’t be any more proud to sell this iconic brand, and the Spring collection that just arrived is a new and fresh take on footwear. Later this Spring, Allen Edmonds will be having a sale at Twill on some of the styles that will be going away. Stay tuned for further details, but in the meantime, stop in and pick up a new pair of boat shoes or driving mocs for Spring.

Bills Khakis’ product offering keeps expanding each season, and so does our enthusiasm for this brand! What’s New: Our Front Display Window!
It’s amazing how many times I have heard “you have the store with that amazing tie wall!” Well, after eight years in business, it became clear to me that the front window needed something new and fresh, so I made a change. I removed the Vineyard Vines wall and replaced it with an amazing display/selling space of which I am very proud. Come check it out and see the currently featured vendor for Fall 2012, Polo Ralph Lauren. For my Vineyard Vines ties fans out there, fear not! We still have your ties (and a ton of other Vineyard Vines products); they are just in a new spot in the store.
Introducing the Smathers & Branson Walleye Belt, a Twill Exclusive!
Smathers & Branson is one of the hottest selling lines in the store, and I know many of you are already enjoying the compliments you receive when you wear your needlepoint belt from Twill. Spring 2012 Comes to Twill!
We know that this Winter in Minnesota has been a bit out of the ordinary, and it sort of feels like Spring has been on the verge of being here for quite a while now (with the exception of last week’s snowstorm!). Due to the fact that it has been unseasonably mild, we decided to bring the Spring collection in a bit early this year. In fact, we have never had so much new Spring merchandise this early. The colors are popping off the shelves, and the products in the store are unique, fresh, and exciting. If you are heading to warmer climates, preparing for Spring Break, or just want a little Spring pick-me-up, stop in to Twill and check out the new goods. You won’t be disappointed!

We're sure that you have seen more and more companies promote the fact that their products are manufactured in the US. Twill is no exception. Being an updated traditional store, many of our key vendors are not only based in the States, but their clothing is manufactured here. Twill is proud to represent these lines, such as Bills Khakis (PA), Southwick (MA), Hickey Freeman (NY), Hart Schaffner & Marx (IL) and Gitman Brothers (PA) among others. In these tough economic times, promoting US companies is something Twill is proud to do, and we will be having an event later this Spring to celebrate “Made in the USA.” Stay tuned for details as they develop, but plan on stopping in to the store during this event for a hot dog and a Budweiser and celebrate the promotion of US companies with us.

You may know Becky already from all of her years at Al Johnson, the outstanding men’s store owned by her father Wally. Although you won't see Twill at Celtic Manor this weekend, two of our most popular brands will be prominently featured as the Ryder Cup gets under way. These fine quality recordings are free to download, share, or listen to online.
In Memory Of Rick Shull
The recent unexpected passing of our dear friend and colleague, Rick Shull, tremendously saddens us. Everyone who met Rick became his friend; his presence permated Twill and continues to do so. We miss him terribly. Rick’s extensive knowledge of the menswear industry was huge benefit to the store, as was his warm personality, ready wit, and beaming grin. If you wish to honor Rick’s memory, consider a contribution to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, www.jdrf.org, or Trout Unlimited, www.tu.org.
